What is “The Philistine”?
This blog is the work of a disenfranchised American citizen of Arab heritage. It was created after the author decided to coherently expose issues that are important to them and their community. Unlike many other Middle Eastern bloggers, “The Philistine” comes from a somewhat rural background in which identifying oneself as being of Arab descent would not garner the best of attention.
Not being raised in communities with large Arab populations has left the author feeling like an outsider in their own environment. Events as an undergraduate in a larger city with a significant Arab (mostly Lebanese and Yemeni)Â population brought to light the cultural differences between the assimilated and un-assimilated Arab youth.
After becoming politically active the author noted how the views and votes of American Arabs of all faiths were not addressed by any candidate at any level of the government. Considering that the number of Arab Americans is in the millions it would seem to be a large group to pay no attention to. While running for office is always a viable choice for the young political scientist, the issue of ethnic background still poses a major hurdle in America.Â
As a testament to the strenth of words (even those written with a keyboard) this blog was born.

Hi
I took a look at your disturbing pictures posted after Israeli soldiers were ‘ambushed’ in Gaza. Like you, I am a fervent opponent of the Israeli government and the illegal occupation of Palestinian land. I support a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. What Israel and the West never admit is the occupation is the root of all the violence and hatred now part of everyday life in the occupied territories and that Israel is committing genocide.
Please keep exposing Israeli and Western hypocrisy
Regards

You wouldn’t be having any problems being catered to if you were Jewish.
